Silky country music twangs away on the radio.

Tufts of sepia and purple-tinged clumps of grasses spring up from the coffee-colored patches of smooth dirt which make up the ground

as wispy gunmetal clouds flaot aimlessly across the sky, forming elegant, fluffy loops

and a delicate blush spreasds across the horizon.

In the distance, white tin roofs and the black speckled forms of cattle dot the landscape.

Farming equipment which I cannot name rolls steadily over the hills--

silent golems protecting what belongs to them.

The smoky outline of the mountains line the borders of the landscape

like the delicate ashen smudge that rims a woman's eyes.

The occasional shimmer of light glancing off a pearlescent lake winks in the fading sunlight

as though the milky white of an eye lies

unblinking in the verdant grass.

Piece inspired by the Colorado landscape. Pretty rough and mostly unedited...but why not I'll submit it anyway.
