an insignificant cry in the dark

i knew this reckoning coming all along

i didn’t think it will finally enrage

so long

so long

thoughts are dismembered

the bodies of tender people

violated

the bodies of tender people

torn apart

when is it time for a new start?

the names of those unsilenced are forced to be silenced

their lives forgotten

only “white heroes” are kept unforgotten

mothers, daughters, sisters, women

no, it’s your easy target; there

no, their bodies are private; not your arbitrary outlet

perhaps i should no longer believe in a brand new day when reality worsens day by day

perhaps this is another cry in the dark

The author's comments:

This piece is a reaction as well as a rumination on the current state of Asian hate in America. As violence against Asian-American communities rises, I hope to voice my concerns and bring greater attention to this issue.
