What Do They Feel
What is it that you hear?
Screams of agony?
Cries of outrage?
What is it that you feel?
Exasperation?
Grief?
I just want a voice
A voice to scream into the depths of earth
A voice so that they can hear me
Will they truly ever see us, or feel us
Or will they ignore our pain and suffering
My people
They hurt my people
The children who we called happy
Now living in fear
A childhood stripped away
A chance of education now vanished
A place that we once called home
Now gone to rubble in the name of selfishness
Do they feel it?
Do they see it?
The anger and empathy building up inside?
Is this going to be the end?

My name is Esra, I'm 16 years old, and I advocate for human rights and the environment. I wrote this piece because I am heavily affected about what's going on around the world, especially with people (specifically children and teens), having to face the horrors of their homes being destroyed and them not feeling safe and always having to fear for their lives. I am recognizing my privilege I have to not feel that way and I hope others acknowledge that too as well as what's happening in these countries.
