I want to live in a van.

Not because I can’t afford a house,

But because I really want to.

I’ve lived my whole life playing it safe.

I’ve been afraid of everything,

Including butterflies, even the ones I get in my stomach when I see you.

Now I know what they mean.

For these very reasons I would like to go entirely off the grid.

For once in my life I want to be spontaneous

Even if that means I leave you and your tied down life.

I still want you to come with me.

please come with me

Can’t you see us the way I do?

Somewhere out in timbuktu

Cups of coffee to our lips

No children on our hips?

Can’t you see life the way I do?

Living with no one to tell us what to do

Hiking and feeling free, no need to make too much money?

We’d only need enough to get us by,

And with you I feel like days and nights would never fly

I would savor every moment and truly feel alive because

I’ve got you by my side,

You would feel like my very own butterfly.

I can finally see stars in the sky.

You are there with me too, a glimmer in your eye.

As you look up into the abyss

Finding beauty in simplicity instead of success.

I want to live in a van.

With you.

No real commitments or responsibilities.

Alone. In nature. Feeling free.

With you,

Because you are my butterfly.

This piece is about a need for freedom, but the for it to be with somebody who doesn't seem to want it. Someone you want so badly you are trying to convince them to want you too.
