I’m sitting at the table

Trying my hardest

At least they can’t see me

Cause I’m an artist

Painting my face

It’s regardless

Of if they like me

Cause seeing myself is the hardest

I can’t breathe

Because today, the truth found me

That I’m alone

They think they can see

But I know what they see isn’t true

These blind people are spinning around me

How shallow they are

Is astounding

With every breath

Their judgment is pounding

When I see them, I think about how

They left me out cause they didn’t like me

I go away

I can find others

Oh wait, I can’t

Nobody else is a loner

Even if they were, it wouldn’t matter

Because none of us would get together

They always say

I’m mature for my age

That very thought

Fills me with rage

Tearing off my mask

Now they can see me

It’s not much

But it’s the real me

This piece was an assignment from my creative writing class that I thought turned out very well.  Its title isn't final
