The scarlet wine lathers

 into the white dress,

Reflecting

                 On

                        Its

                              dive

                                      into the clean linen.

Had the wine not leaped

 from its glass,

 it wouldn't be facing the

sting of the bleach,

Rubbing

              Into

                    Its

                         unseen

                                   vulnerability,

cleaning the mess of its own sweet haste.

The author's comments:

I am a high school student enrolled in a creative writing class, and the assignment was to work on definition poetry. I chose the word regret to define using poerty, and enjoyed creating interesting line breaks within the stanzas.
