I’ve Seen the Darkness
I’ve seen people being taken
Because they are different,
People being discriminated against
And stolen away to a small fenced area.
I’ve seen people crying,
Hearing them scream,
Watching them ripped away from those they loved,
Never to see them again.
I’ve seen the big bad wolf
Laughed as they suffered,
Smelled his smoke from his cigar,
Seen the ash fall to the ground.
I’ve seen people following him like glue,
I’ve seen people fight with this dark cloud of discrimination,
I’ve seen the guns fire
And people fall.
I’ve seen them walking,
Being escorted away
In cold, tight shackles,
Their faces sad
And their freedom being ripped away.
I’ve seen the Holocaust,
I’ve seen Hitler,
I know it will be remembered until the end of time,
Forever hidden in between the pages of history books.
