The Coast of Reality
Waves crash together loudly at night.
You should know it’s ok to not be alright.
Happiness is the key to success,
but with success comes something else I must address.
Becoming successful is not the only point of living.
Loving and losing, fighting and bruising, remembering but forgiving.
From ripples to tsunamis all along your path
Taking a bubble bath, feeling someone’s wrath, or even just doing math
You should enjoy the journey,
the road to success, whether smooth or turney.
The hard work you put in to get to the top of the splash.
Remember it, just in case your wave takes a crash.
Plunging down into a deep deep slump
Brushing yourself off and standing tall cause you ain’t no chump.
Stress comes with the tide of success.
Sometimes stress stands separating someone from doing their best.
Diving down the path to where you are meant to be
Across all of the seven seas
You can achieve great things
like dodging bee stings, getting fairy wings, or doing handsprings.
Do it all even after you fall, be it short or be it tall
Keep on keepin on even if you can no longer scull.
When things get rough and you have just about had enough,
just know that you are tuff.
There’s one last thing I’d like to note
Because I know when all else fails,
After you rip your sails,
Sinking quickly into the deep blue
down goes your boat
But luckily for you,
you will float.

This is a Dr. Suess-inspired poem. I am a high school senior trying to figure out what to do with my life. While doing this, I have the support of my family and friends reminding me every day that no matter how far I fall they will always be there to catch me.
