When you were born,

I was two,

And when you were two,

I left.

After that

every sunday

we went to the same place

a museam

first we'd get lunch

then we played,

remember?

I would help

you learn and grow

But you're twelve now

and I moved a year ago

to a place that

you've never heard of

to a place you aren't able to visit,

we've barely talked since

and though it's my fault

it's too hard to admit how hard it is to talk to you

But I still have questions,

burning

hurting

like fire

that

remain

unanswered.

Are you sad?

Are you mad?

Do you remember me?

you see the list goes on

A neverending series,

on a complicated cloud of white.

It's too painful to talk

so im sorry,

I'm sorry our mother left us

I'm sorry I left you,

I'm sorry im not there to help with bullies

or hug you when you miss mom

I had promised you I wouldn't abandon you

but I did, just like everyone else.

The author's comments:

I've had a very troubled childhood of neglect, and I went to live with my grandparents when I was about the age of four years old, but my sister stayed with my stepdad which was her dad.  My story is also complicated and so since around 3rd grade I started making poems to help me sort out my feelings.  I am currently also working with a therapist because  I have PTSD, but poetry has really guided me and it's something I really enjoy.  I hope people who read my poem will be moved or interested into telling their stories and sharing their ideas because every story is worth telling.
