Blankets call you to sleep

You try and try to count the sheep

They bounce back and forth

Like a new born baby of a sort

The pillow soft and comforting

Waiting for you to start dreaming

The magic flows from your head

Takes in everything from outside your bed

And lets it go while you fall to your death

Or as you fall onto your knees

For someone that you’ll never please

It lays the future in your hands that tremble

As you think of a life you can barely assemble

With time that feels it will never move

A place where words will never sooth

But why sometimes and not the other

Why do we always find one another

In a state of subconsciousness

When life is filled with grief or happiness

But you will always want to wake

Unless you’ve made a big mistake

Mysterious laws waiting to be discovered

While you are sleeping under the covers
