I Like Walking Winding Trails

I like walking winding trails with a friend,

Joyful as we pitter-patter through the woods

The most comfortable of wilderness ventures;

I like ending points

And getting coffee after,

I like after,

I like how there's always after.

I don't like always

always

Nothing is all ways,

The stuffy steel stiffness.

Explain always to the caterpillar in her chrysalis,

Crawling and then fluttering

She will laugh at your ignorance,

Explain always to the river otter

Sliding in and out of sight,

Silky shining slime, singing on its coat;

I like change.

Its cleverness,

It's innovation and resourcefulness;

Its sorrowful laugher

And joyful tears.

I like walking winding trails by myself.

Catching rare whiffs of wildflowers,

Tasting like the coolest of ice teas,

The mildest.

I like the crunch and thud of the leaves,

And the rustling of the bushes.

I like the muffled sound of my thoughts,

There carfree release

Free to be

Alone in Harmony;

I like the way confident people walk

dancing in there assertive, unapologetic way

hands swinging like the pendulum of ease

I like the way good people smile

Squinting eyes,  lips broad and wild
