The perfect pitch
The bases are loaded
And it's all up to you
As you approach the plate
You know what you must do
With the bat in your hand
And a lump in your throat
You take your stance bravely
As anticipation grows
You see the white ball
Inside the pitcher's worn glove
As he twists it and hides it
Until he thinks, that's enough
He releases it suddenly
And it's coming towards you
Down the middle so sweetly
It's a pitch just for you
You swing the bat precisely
Starting back and then front
Until the wood hits the leather
The ball is suddenly gone
