Marraine! Godmother!I was appallingly prosaic

I was in an indomitable world of uncreative silence

that silence found joy in smothering me

It was my own silence of unimaginativeness

As I lay in a grave fractured, unloved & broken

You became my accidental pick

I saw my reflection in your legacy

You taught me the rudiments of

Our common universality

My soul corresponds with yours Sylvia

You & I have much in common

Affliction hidden under a warm smile

Your timeless eyes,

Your deep voice,

Make me healthy

I forget my misery but remember yours

& weep as if I was you

I was the old silver smith waiting on the shore

For a miracle

Then you washed upon the beach, my platinum!

That made me put pen to paper

Your consort was foolish to leave the beautiful

You!

Maybe he didn’t want the world to get enough of you

Your voice & the hot bath are similar in a distinguishable way.

I was ossified; you baptized & made me lyrical

You are a tough-minded woman

You & I know how

I have other loves but you are my true passion

Because you pull me out of the sack of despondency

I love you from Smith to Mclean

You smote in ways I can’t rationalize

It was pointless to put your head in the oven Sylvia

It just seized away the powerful voice of the unheard.

The author's comments:

I started reading Sylvia Plath and was very much influenced by work and life

I wrote this poem as a tribute to her because she has made me start writing poetry and she has made me love it
