Click,Click
That’s the sound of my hair being cut
My stomach tightens as my hair falls
Big, bold beautiful
Coily, corkscrew curls,
Gone
Fluffy hair, flattened, frizzy hair, thin
My brian paints image of what my hair could have been Straight, uncurled, thin
Is that what my hair should’ve been
The iron makes a crisp
my hand squeeze the chair Curl drops
My hair goes plop
Steam, sizzle
I feel a little drizzle My head shakes
I try not to cry
I feel beneath skin People smile
Big Coils

The hair stylist across hall
Flies
The brush flows through my hair I guess i feel pretty for a while
And maybe my hair looked a little rough She finishes my hair
I leave the salon
My mom makes me smile
I guessed i liked
It for while
I know that I have to be me
I walk home, wet my hair Curls pop back up
Finally am me
Cause when am me i am free
