I am From
I am from palm trees and beaches,
And oranges and alligators.
From entire days outside and nights with sunburns.
I am from sweet cereals,
With sweet scents wafting from the kitchen.
From sugar cookies and ice cream,
And a small gray dog.
I am from long days biking around,
And learning how to kick a soccer ball.
From purple monkey and soft blankets,
And the starred night light.
I am from the tears and laughters of a pool,
And the missing events for practice.
From living in the same household,
To supporting each other like a second family.
I am from the swimming competitions,
And the running around hotels.
From loud yet sleepy dinners,
and a ice cream in the booths of Friendlys.
