Come closer my dear child
How I’ve feared where you’ve been
Find comfort under my green and white shadow
The Pakistani flag
I show the migration
How could I forget my child
1947
A green and white shadow arose
Come closer my dear grandchild

Come by air or by foot
Or by train too
Leave the big house
Build a better life
Under my green and white shadow
An ancestral pathway
Come closer my great-grandchild

New culture, New customs, and religion
Come closer my dear great-great-grandchild
You’re safe
Under the green and white shadow that hovers our heads
The land of the pure
Come closer my dear ancestors tell me, my family history

-This piece represents my ancestry, my culture, and the meaning of the green and white flag ( Pakistani flag.) As a Pakistani living in America this poem is a reminder to not forget where I came from and the hardships my ancestors faced coming to America.
