Royalty rests
Dreaming of expansion
Unknowing of terror
Curtains sway
A kingdom silent
Wind whistles
Danger approaches
A dagger driven deeply
Sheets drenched in crimson ink
A canvas painted by death
Regicide
Morning comes
Mourning comes
A widower
A fatherless son
Ceremonies are held
A new king reigns
Ruler of The North

This originally came from an English 11 assignment, but I ended up enjoying it a ton. I've been writing poetry for a few months now and this is my best work. The prompt was just that we had to have a 20 line free verse poem, the rest was up to me.
