The Spiral Staircase
Down the spiral staircase we go,
As we fall into a deeper abyss.
Down the spiral staircase we go,
As the plot and characters unfold.
Down the spiral staircase we go,
As their words pierce through the stairs.
Down the spiral staircase we go,
As we see the monsters appear behind us - grabbing us with their hands,
We rush to escape as the monsters begin to disintegrate,
And on our journey goes.
Down the spiral staircase we go,
As we see the soldiers clashing their heads onto one another,
As screams pierce throughout the empty halls.
Down the spiral staircase we go,
As we see a knight offering us a hand,
A warm smile appears on her face, a smile which could illuminate the dark corners of the abyss.
She whispers she is in a hurry as she flurries down the stairs, her army following her behind.
Off to another fight, we suppose.
Down the spiral staircase we go,
As we see a dragon slain by a familiar warrior.
Down the spiral staircase we go,
As we fall and fall and fall and fall into the deepest corners,
And we approach a door.
A singular red door, what else could it be?
We slowly open it to a light blinding us.
Down the spiral staircase we go-
Oh wait there is no staircase.

A poem I had written a little while ago about getting lost in fiction, and through that sometimes it can feel like you are really there witnessing the story such as how if one reads a really good novel they can find themsleves getting lost in it
