Dear Grandpa
Dear Grandpa,
You with sweet and savory smile
I was not ready to say goodbye, to lose you, to miss you
I know it was not your choice, to leave me
I cried for months
Why did I believe you will come back
Why did I imagine your rough hand, holding my tiny fingers
Questions that put my eyes through a waterfall
But then a simple hug
A simple kiss
A simple shoulder to lean on
Came and held me
Came and cried with me
Came and told me I will be okay
Yes, you are gone,
I still love you
I still miss you
And with time, I have ways to remember you,
Listening to your favorite Reggae songs
Eating pound cake
So yeah I miss you
I will cry for you
But now I know am how to connect with you, and I know that you are watching my me from above
I know you are always near me
Love,
Your sweet sugary princess
