Pluto and Charon
Fluffy
Seeds of
Floating
Flowers
Time is
Passing
Every
Hour
Single
Star
Shooting
Sky
How could
I
Say
Goodbye
Wishing
Hoping
Dreaming
Waiting
Pluto
Charon
Dreams
Fading
Wanting to
Revolve
Round you
Binary
Planets
Flew
I thought we’d cheat the atmosphere
Thought there was no gravity here,
It never mattered the sky was far
We needn’t jump to reach that bar,
But no amount of shooting stars
And no amount of wild flowers,
No amount of love or luck
Could save us when the darkness struck,
When we jumped
We planned to fly
But burnt our wings
Fell from the sky
Spinning
Crashing
Anger
Panic
Tears and
Hopeless
Sunk
Titanic
Living
Dying
Flying
Falling
Doesn’t change
The hurt
I’m
Hauling
Just half
A system
Without
You
Can’t revolve
Like
Planets
Do
Leaving
Me
In death
Cold June
Just a
Planet
With no
Moon
Wishing
Hoping
Dreaming
Hating
Pluto
Charon
Sad
Unfading.

The binary planet system of Pluto and Charon represents a couples need for each other, and how they feel like they could not revolve without the other. The begining of the poem is about shooting stars and wishing flowers because one of the people is wishing for the relationship to work out. They were meant for each other but it seems the universe wants to keep them apart. At the end, it is easy to tell the relationship did not work out. The part about the buring wings is an idea I got from Ray Bradbury's Fahrenheit 451.
