Broken Down Carousel
Crick crick crick
Clicks the creaky Carousel
Tired and run down
Once glorious and great
The poor Carousel now makes kids frown
They worked her
And worked her
And worked her some more
Push push pushing
Until her pretty little horses pranced no more
The children used to run to play
Admiring her beauty
She liked to see their shining faces
Happy to see her
And she was happy to see them too
But years and years of pushing
And trying to please
Wears a carousel down
And the kids who once loved her
Looked away when they passed
She misses her children, her playmates, her friends
She wanted them to run to her
So she worked to make herself better, better, better
Until her gears wore down and her insides decayed
Now she watches her playmates walk by
Remembering the Better Days
