I’m drowning in the ocean blue

Where am I

I wonder

My breath coming in bubbles

that rise up

Where am I

It is not water,

I recall,

because you would drown

A shiver in the still calm

breaks through my lungs

But I need not to breathe,

I think,

I need not to

where did the world go?

I wonder

and why is my heart

brittle

like stone?

I cough

but the bubbles are gone

and something cold

and hard

slips out of my mouth

It hits the bottom of something

thump-thump.

Wings lift my lungs

but water fills them

And I think,

or it is,

it’s water

because I think I just

might be

drowning
