Childhood Genius: Spark
What is better than the spark of a child's mind,
When excited by a new idea or challenge?
Who is more caring than a parent,
Seeing the victories that their child had won and
The battles that were lost
To produce the creation they so proudly present.
Do not, I warn, allow your spark to fade in the night, dear child,
For not everyone understands your
Mind as I do.
Many will be jealous and vain,
While others completely discount the idea of you
Producing something with the beauty that your
Project has shown.
The spark of light dancing behind
Dark
Intelligent
Young
Eyes
.
I beg you do not forget that others will be entranced by this
Light within you.
Even when others still can not understand the
Reasons you gave for
Your creation.
Even when you feel that your
Flame is being
Smothered
Do not let it go out.
For to grow a flame is so much easier than it is to
Ignite another in the
Ashes of a young flame
Put out too soon by
School
Work
Grief
That weigh in too heavy for an adult to carry
Let alone the shoulders of a child who
So often carries them
Farther and feels the wounds
Deeper and hauls the weight
Longer.
Be careful with who you share your spark with
Young one
Because if you are to trust it with the wrong person
And they stomp it out before it
Could grow healthy and hearty
And is still so easy to ruin
Then trust that it will be.
Put up barbed wire and flood
Lights around your spark. Keep it deep within a
Bunker that
Keeps it safe from the evil intentions of the
World.
For if ignorance is bliss
What horrors must you live?
But if someone can be trusted with
Everything else in your life, and has torn down the
Thorns and
Lights with a
Gentleness that those who crushed your
Flame did not possess
And bloodied their hands in the process because
Your spark is important to them
More so than their own flesh
Then unlock your doors because you can
Have your flame be stomped on but if you
Deprive
It of oxygen for too
Long then it will be lost to
The world anyways
