i read more things about the sunrises 

rather than the sunsets

maybe it’s just a me thing 

but i think the most beautiful part of the day can be when the sun is barely visible

when the sun is saying goodbye

and the moon is saying hello.

after the sun sets 

there come the stars

and when i see the stars, i see you

only for a little bit, though

nothing lasts forever.

five minutes pass, the star i’m staring at disappears

you are the star. 

i smile to myself

my smile is replaced by tears

maybe it’s the happy kind

that, i don’t know

but i think my favorite time of day is sunset

because shortly after it

i get to see you

and i haven’t been able to do that in so long

because you’re up there

and i’m down here.

something i wish i could always do

but that’s why i like the sunset

because it signifies the end of the day

and the commencement of a new one. 

the commencement of a new day

also means another sunset

followed by the same set of stars

you are in the stars. 

the night is coming to end

i’ve been awake since the sunset

on edge about everything 

the sun is starting to rise

the stars start to disappear

i’ll be here the same time as today

to watch the sunset

i’ll see you tomorrow.
