Look Around
Looking around
Here, safe in our bubbles
We watch the world around us through a screen
Pretending not to see that it’s crumbling, little by little
So we do nothing
Just sit in our bubbles
Safe from the illness plaguing the world outside
But the thing about bubbles is that they’re fragile, easily popped
It's a wonder that they’ve lasted this long
Perhaps these hopes
These lies we’ve told ourselves
that the world will fix itself on its own
Have reinforced them
But how long will they last
Looking around, I wonder
How long we’ll stay here
Pretending that we are safe in our bubbles
Watching and hoping
Instead of fighting and acting
To change the way of the world
To change how we treat our fellow companions
When will we finally look at each other
In a truly accepting way
Without prejudice or fear
When will we help each other up
Instead of breaking each other down
Adding to the broken world
When will we come out of our bubbles and
Look around
to see that the world is getting worse
Getting sicker
There are bigger cracks now, splitting us up
Red vs blue
Black or white
The world is crumbling faster
Will our bubbles keep holding up
Keep protecting us
Will they be able to withstand
the falling debris and the growing cracks
Will we?
