My Tank
The tank.
That is her name.
She started off as my sisters back in 2017.
2008 Saturn Aura, all white with tan interior.
My sister named her Marylin.
About 3 months ago my sister bought herself a new car.
She named her Moanic.
That makes Tank all my now.
Even through the water stained seats.
The yellow floor mats that are supposed to be clear.
The pulls in the fabric throughout the car.
The duck tape under the front end from when my sister hit the curb.
The way she whirs when you step on the gas or turn the wheel.
Over 150,000 miles.
Or my favorite, the steering wheel that has a mind of its own.
Sometimes she does left turns for me if I let go;)
I have made so many memories in this car.
Of course I wish I could have the newest, shiniest, most high-tech car out there.
But that is not my life.
Tank has taught me to be grateful.
As a teenager in high school who has friends that are extremely wealthy and get everything handed to them on a silver platter….. It is hard not to compare your life to theirs.
Overtime, Tank has saved me from many incidents.
Like not having to wait for my parents anymore when they are running late to pick me up from dance.
Or not being able to get coffee because my mom didn’t want to drive me to Dunkin.
How about finally having the freedom to drive myself to dance.
My favorite is being able to pick up my friends when they need me the most.
Tank.
She has 4 wheels.
Heating and cooling.
Cup holders for my coffee.
Enough seats to fit 4 other people including myself.
Good gas mileage.
And most importantly…. A sound system that I can connect my phone to.
I love my car.
And I am grateful that I can call her mine.
I know my time with her is slowly coming to an end.
But I am going to embrace every second and memory that I have left with her.
