"There is a fine line between bravery and stupidity." (someone idk)

Nothing hurts more than losing someone you love.

Everyone has broken down, collapsed on the ground, bawled their eyes out, over losing their mom, dad, brother, sister, best friend, son, daughter, or someone else.

If they haven’t, they had better be prepared for it to happen.

The one that hurts the most was when I lost my dad.

Now when I say I lost him, I don’t mean that he died.

He is still out there somewhere on this Earth, and that fact makes it hurt more.

I could still see him, but I don’t know where to find him.

I could still talk to him, but I don’t know what to say.

Everyone has lost someone, and that includes my dad.

He lost his mom to cancer, and that’s what made him disappear.

I was only 6 years old, my dad was my best friend.

When he walked out at my birthday party, I never saw him again.

I constantly think about how happy I would be if I randomly ran into him some day, how great it would be to see my dad again.

But reality hits me every time.

We wouldn’t recognize each other.

It would be awkward.

He wouldn’t want to talk to me.

He would ignore me.

He would run away and disappear again.

All of these thoughts are what make me truly think that I have lost him.

This is by far my favorite poem of all of them that I wrote this year. I had always been scared to talk about my dad, and it was a huge weight on my shoulders. It felt freeing when I finally let it out. I was so young when he walked away, and these things always impact you more when you are young. The thoughts I described in the poem still linger around in my head, but despite those, I really want to see him again. If I ever manage to top this poem, it would be a miracle. This is the best thing I have ever done, and it might always be.
