Oops!
On my way home from work,
driving my first car.
16, not a care in the world.
Soon enough,
I would have something to care about.
In the snow,
remembering to take the turns slowwwww.
Or was I?
Isn’t it so much fun
to drive faster in the snow?
It was.
Not for long.
With a grin on my face,
sliding through the corners
fast enough to make myself think
“Hey, I’m pretty good at this”.
This bliss would not last long.
Into a stop sign I went.
I froze.
“What do I do?”
The sign pole was at an angle.
You could still kind of see it.
That means it’s fine, right?
Good enough for me.
I threw it in reverse.
I was kind of on someone’s lawn -
might as well get out of there fast.
I drove home as slow as I could.
Parking in the street next to home.
Waiting a couple days.
“Hey Tim, is that dent on the front of your car
new?”
“Uh, yeah,
about that.”
