Artifact Poem
The little fossil that sits on my desk once had an amazing life.
Always being held or stared at with the whimsical eyes of elementary students.
Always getting compliments.
An amazing thing to see when you visit grandpa.
But things change, things stop being so amazing, the things that cause so much wonder and whim start to cause more pain than anything.
So now it sits.
Sits and waits for the caring man who found love in everything.
It´s not his fault, it shouldn´t have been his time.
But he can´t come back
Now I´m left without him all I have is his fossil
So it sits on a desk and begs to be looked at the way it once was.
But that is too much.
Too much pain, too much to remember
It´s the living remembrance of someone I lost.
So it sits on my desk
