A quiet winter night
Crunch
Crunch
Crunch
The sound of my boots falling on fresh snow
The first step breaks the top layer
The next goes down to the almost frozen part creating a satisfying crack!
The night air is cool
And the sky is clear and full of stars
Its rare to see stars in the suburbs
Our nights so polluted with light we miss out on the beauty of our universe
No other sounds surround me
Not people talking
Not birds Chirping
Not even the sounds of cars or trucks
I suppose the snow masks it all
Probably why winter is my favorite season, the quiet contemplation gets the better of me
The night air is frigid
A far cry from the warmth of my house
I can still remember the coca i was drinking
Shame i can’t still feel its warmth
My breath fogs in front of me
Like a train or wisps of smoke quietly curling from a chimney
As i walk through the quiet cold night
With snowflakes dancing around me
Like little creatures each with a mind of its own
I think about what ill do when i grow up
Or how ill deal with the problems that come with it
I vividly remember that night
Because its been every winter
I walk and think
