Longing Reflection
As I sit, the world stands
As the world exhales
I’m only beginning to inhale
So far behind are my steps
I’m reaching for something
I don’t know if I want
We’re all walking now
With stones thrown at our feet
Those who walk slower
They’re feet are easier to hit
But I want to take my time
Enjoy the eye of the storm
Before the clouds close in
But those who take their time
They’re easily seen
Yet I still walk
Behind the others
Kicking myself towards our shared fate
But it seems I’m the only one
Who ever looks back

I wrote this piece as a small English project to reflect on how I feel about the current state of the world. I feel that everything is moving too quickly and that I want more time to reflect. Through this poem, I express how this world isn't made for those who wait, but instead is rushed forward.
