it’s weird to grieve for a human you never met

a life you never even knew existed

it’s painful to know that some people just don’t care. they make light of a thing so heavy as a man whose last words were “i can’t breathe” at the hands of a person supposed to protect, not kill.

Eric Garner

Michael Brown

Brendon Glenn

it’s angering to see that over 1,000 people were wrongly killed by the police in just 2019, 24% of them were African American, even when they only make up 13% of the United States’s population. that in 2015, 104 unarmed black people were killed by law enforcement, almost two deaths per week.

Freddie Gray

Natasha Mckenna

Walter Scott

i have always been white, and i always will be white. my skin will never be a reason why my life is burdened. i have a fifth of a probability of being killed by the police than my black counterpart.

Christian Taylor

Ezell Ford

Akai Gurley

i see you. i hear you. i support you. i will stand by you. when i’m of age i will vote for your protection, your values, your life. I will listen to you. amplify your voice.  hold you tall. help you up. put my body between yours and theirs.

Shereese Francis

Ronald Madison

Sandra Bland

disabled black lives. transgender black lives. fat black lives. poor black lives. mentally ill black lives. chronically ill black lives. queer black lives. black lives matter.
