First Love
baby,
the first person you will come to love
will sweep you off of your feet
ever so gently like a wave brushing the bay.
you will nickname them "Tsunami",
but not before they stretch their hands out to you
and tell you "i love you".
and you, so shy and timid, will dive right in
without hesitation
because you, so naive, have never heard a siren sing.
and you will spoil them greatly,
treat them royalty,
and watch your body go bankrupt
just to hear their sweet voice tell you
"i love you",
their lips dripping with artificial maple syrup
as they drain you of all your being 'til you are
nothing
but a broken shell of what you used to be.
baby,
the first person you will come to love
will be the first one to teach you how to fear water.
you will nickname them... "Tsunami".
i won't force you to swim,
but i will wait patiently by the bay
with a lifejacket just in case.
