Every time I walk into your house I still hope to see you

I pass your office and all the memories flood back into my brain

The typewriter

The very old typewriter you taught me how to use

I fell inlove with that typewriter

The way the keys sounded when you would hit them

The way you would have to be very careful

Because if you messed up you would have to start all over

The very fact that it was a part of you

That you were passing on without us knowing

The record player

Those hot summer days would go by fast

With my cousins and I trying to figure out which record we should play next

The music would fill the house with joy and excitement

But we would have never known what it was like to see a record spin

Or what it was like to hear the tone pour out so beautifully

If it wasn't for you

You had a way of putting a smile on my face no matter what

You made us feel true love

As if we were they richest family with not alot of money

I wish I had more time with you

I wish I could see that smile that would light up the room one last time

I wish my brother had the honor of meeting you

But I make sure he still knows what a great man you were

I thank God everyday that you stayed strong when the alcohol was trying to tear you down

And I was able to get ten years with you

Ten years that weren't supposed to happen according to the doctors

Thank you

My Grandpa is someone who is very special to me and someone I will always hold close to my heart. I believed writing a piece about him as a tribute was a good idea.
