i curl my slender fingers

into your silky depths

watching the algae

tinge my skin green

i step in

slowly

chills prickling up my back

their kisses leaving goosebumps behind

i breathe in air

hanging with crystallized salt

evaporated by the falling sun

a gentle breeze tugging at my hair

i hold out my hand

and you take it

so gently

pulling me into your embrace

i submerge

i feel your push

drawing me ever so close

deeper into the chilly depths

my eyes open

stinging from the salt

watching bubbles float lazily upward

like leaves falling from a soft wind

i lay on my back as you softly rock me

watching the sun twinkle across your surface

my worries float away

like the rubbery seaweed drifting by

must you release me

can i stay forever

suspended in the ethereal deep blue

as time waits and waves tick by?

the fading light flitting through

answered my plea

i untangled from your grasp

and broke from the shell of your sanctuary

once again

i find myself in a world

too infatuated with the tortuous race against time

to find bliss in the exhilarating journey of life

toes curling in the grainy sand

water drips from salty strands of hair

landing on my lashes

rolling down my cheeks

i hope my slender footprints in the sand

will remind you of my presence

as they disappear under rolling waves

a memory encapsulated in white foam

may the sun forever sparkle over your surface

nourishing life in depths unexplored

may waves continue to swell and crash

as time continues it’s passage upon your ocean blue
