Wind Up Car
Hair tucked around her convolted ears
White as the snow lying before me
I watched the color develop
The way her wisdom came along with the time
Wisdom which she shared with me
Love she gave to me
For my eighth birthday she placed a present in my small hands
Anticipation rose as I ripped through the delicate wrapping paper
My childish eyes have never been happier than to see
A bright blue toy car
What made it unique was the gear that would allow it to move
I would spend days winding it up and watching it race down my hall
It would eventually come to a halt
But unlike the toy car that I could wind up again
When her eyes shut and her body was still
I could not simply “wind up” the rod connected to her heart

Loosing a loved one left me with an extremely heavy heart. Throughout my life I spent a majority of my time with my grandmother. I've always struggled expressing my thoughts and feelings about her. It's something that nobody can describe. I will forever miss her and remember her kind eyes.
