Panic Attack
Your brain tells you exactly what needs to happen
So does your mom
So does your stomach
But your head has stopped
There is too much happening
Paralyzed, sitting on the couch
Yelled at from all directions
Your mom, who seems almost angry
That her breathing exercises don’t help you
And your head, who has blocked
Off the pathways that allow for movement
But screams for you to get up
It’s not that you don’t want to eat
Or blink
Or stand
You just can’t.
