A love, warm
And amiable
A love, cold
And unfriendly.
Competing day in
Day out,
For any and every reason.
Punches are feathers,
Falling down,
Gracefully landing
On playground wood chips.
Words are knives
Cutting, piercing, and slicing,
Through an already
Weakened shell.
You are the Lineman
to my Quarterback.
The bond we share like an
eternal tree,
Unbreakable even by
The strongest hatchet.
In the end
It’s the world vs “us”
A love like no other.
