I thank you

The memories of you still burn in my head.
Some days they stab my heart like a sword,
And others they’re not as bad.
I used to vent about you,
How i’d do anything to just look into your eyes one last time,
But now I don't even bother.
I don't need you to hold my hand anymore,
I don't need you to tell me everything will be okay,
I’m fine without you.
Because you taught me to walk alone and stay strong,
Even when I didn't want to.
And because of that,
I thank you.
