Fear Inside Me
As soon as the door shuts behind him,
Worrying thoughts race through my mind-
Will he walk back through the door?
Or will I get a police officer on my steps.
Times I sit awake, waiting
For dad's footsteps to creak up the stairs.
The nights that my mind tells me,
He's not okay.
Knowing what is out there,
Putting other’s lives before his.
Forgetting the fact,
I love you sweetie
Might be the last.
