Warned
I was warned of the warmth of your embrace,
Of the smile that spread across your face,
Of the head that had found rest in my lap,
Of the one who would walk me down this path.
I was warned of your infectious glee,
Of the things I'd feel when you left me,
Of the one who said they'd always be mine,
Even when there wasn't much time.
And now, you're gone.
And I'm alone.
Should I have listened to their warning?
But time moves on,
And so do I.
Because in my heart,
You never died.

I wrote this a year ago or so, so as the oldest that survived my many mass deletions of writings I get dissatisfied with, it holds some sentimental value in finally sharing it.
