Love Among The Unpleasant
Now is the time
We exist unapologetically
Now is the time
We hold onto our partners hand
And feel the conversion therapy machine
Shoot sparks that reverberate through our
Vertebrae and melt into our hearts
This is how it feels to reclaim authentic love
Now is the time
We’re allowed to feel safe at home
Now is the time
We take the “sickly” out of
Sickly sweet
And wrap ourselves
In the warm embrace of sweet.
Now is the time
I can feel sincerely significant
Without your southern baby boomer grandpa
Telling me that my love is “unnatural”
Now is the time
I can be proud of even making it this far
Now is the time
I let the endless homophobia pass me by.
Now is the time
I grip my partners hand tighter
Whenever I see strangers odious eyes
Burning a hole in my chest.
In the perfect world,
I can love with passion and
Never
Say
Sorry

I'm a gay, transgender teen, and I've had my time to time run-ins with homophobia and transphobia. I've also seen my share of articles saying another gay kid got killed or beaten or anything else because they are lgbt. It's sad and scary. I thought I would share my thoughts.
