The World is a Wicked Place
The world is a wicked place
That's a truth I say to my face.
You have to say goodbye to your dreams,
in fear of disgrace.
You have to face mental agony ,
because of your colour or your race.
What's the point of living this wretched life,
with all your internal strife?
You want to live your life as you want,
but, oh wait, you can't.
Get a good job,
join the monotonous mob.
People saty put even in suffering
While we change a video for a second of buffering.
Women, here and there, are harmed.
If this is the good life,
I'll be darned.
This is a world where everyone takes everyone at face value.
You have too, haven't you?
The world is a wicked place
That's a truth I say to my face.

Hi, I'm Shruthi and this is my first time posting something here. I wrote this poem because of something I read while researching for a Model UN. It was about the Rohingyas and it was gut wrenching. And a line from a book-"Dead Man's Folly" by Agatha Christie came to me - 'The world is a wicked place' and that's how this poem was concieved.
I hope you like it.
