What Does It Take To Be Genuinely Happy?

Do you know how it feels
When your castles of dreams collapse into the suffocating dust?
When it covers the floor of your young, naive, and innocent mind?
When you're strangled by fear and drowned in the ocean of the doubts?

Do you know what the human soul desires, demands,
And curses with great passion afterward?
It’s the sentiment that colors flowers gold
And sets the butterflies to fly as high as your beating heart can take.

Life is harder for those who empathize
And take the blame for all the claws in their own skin.
What's the worst that can happen to somebody who's already hurt?
They can meet a new idol to deify.

But life is merciful to those who let it go.
Kaleidoscope changes with every single turn.
As days spread their wings, fly, and disappear,
In the very front of our breath, which fogs up the window we write initials on.

The lesson is, love doesn’t have to be romantic,
It shouldn’t be possessing and obsessive, we grow out of the dream lives in our heads,
Princesses and princes that we always dreamed of are being taken by the East wind,
Followed by dust.

Now I feel like I'm about to explode,
My chest bursts fireworks over the grayness of my mind,
And each sparkle dances in the crazy rhythm.
Finally, I know why people write poems, sing songs, and lose their minds.

Love yourself, love your people, your lover, and love to smile
Because that's what makes us genuinely happy.

Love.

The author's comments:

Everybody has a different perception of love and of all the things that love brings to us. Some people dive deep momentarily, some are less trustful and take small steps, but what unites us all is the feeling that we get at the end of our unique magical journey. We all experience blue, we all experience gray, and we all experienced red. To keep sanity we need to remember one little thing that I talked about in my poem: we need to save a little drop of love to ourselves, too.

I hope that you find my opinion of love interesting, enjoyable, and inspiring.
