skinless
This skin is thick so be prepared
First layer is my skin which is very strong
My skin gets dry so I have to keep it oily
Guarded by a wall because I could never let anyone in
Thick, tough, and rough my guards up high
Under that is the blood that flows
This blood is some of the toughest out there
This blood keeps me going, it pumps this heart
And keeps me thriving everyday to be great
This blood guards what's underneath it
This blood flows to the brain to alert it
To keep what's underneath safe and protected from harm's way
My last layer is my heart
First time broken it put up all the layers
Before it's to protect it, this is my skin
And here's the moto that it follows
D-etermined
E-xcited
M-otivated
O-pptomistic
N-ever negative
D-own to the core loyal
In my poem I have two writers devices to discuss on and to tell why I used them.
My first writers device that I used was rhyme. I used rhyme not intentionally, but I think it just flows through my words.
Then in the second stanza I used repetition for four lines. I repeatedly used this blood, which was actually intentionally
used because it was easiest.
In my poem I used a few strategies to help me with my writers flow.
First I used the borrow strategy, I borrowed an idea to use an acrostic in my poem.
I also borrowed the idea to use my name in the acrostic.
I borrowed the theme of the poem or the concept.
All this borrowing came from this old oak park poem book from former students.
In the future I can and cannot see myself as a poet.
The reason why I can't is because, writing in general is a struggle topic for me.
I struggle at writing a lot and it takes a long time or it's a long process to get me to get the words flowing.
The reason I can is because I like rap and im very good at it.
When it comes to rap I can speak so easily and flow so smooth but I can't convert that to writing.
