A Prayer
Sometimes, a moment is sacred
There is worship in the way I brush my teeth each morning
There is holy water in my coffee cup
When you look up
From a long walk into the wind
And suddenly see beauty
And the bottom of your shoes
Worn from all the miles you have walked
Are a talisman of your pilgrimage to class and back each day
The crush of your boots in the snow
Is a mantra worth repeating
And the sunlight as it slants through your window
Is a sign to continue
