Bricked Life
I’m from a brick house that shares with two left and one right, as
passing cars zoom down the slanted hilltop,
to the dented mailbox that combines the sloped street,
with neighboring kids playing within the grassy yards. As I overlook the world
from the mirror like windows, I see it unfold
from within the brick house
I’m from a family whose kindness outmatches all,
but even these types become devils overnight.
Days zoom past and every second flies by, as endless successes stack mountain tall.
But memories outlast
from within the brick house.
I’m from the mirrored tiles that reflect my education,
as stardom and possibilities whistle through the halls.
Blinding spotlights hit my skin like UV rays,
with thundering applause roaring through the stage.
But the biggest successes come
from within the brick house.
I’m from a brick house that cements life together,
as the bricks fill with memories and dreams, and cement connects them.
Every memory and success, no matter what or where, always comes
from within the brick house.
