Mind Vs, Heart
The mind seeking pleasure
The heart seeking acceptance
Mish mashing until a vague entity formed
And they named it feeling
But feeling was not a real compromise
More of a semi possibility
Like the inside of one closed eye
So heart presented a new concept that he hoped brain could endure
Understanding, the concept of mutual appreciation
Heart presented the concept
Relying on his new concept
to convince Mind to understand using understanding
But Mind was clever and saw through the ruse
A wolf in an ill fitting sheep costume
Understanding was only another form of tolerance
And Tolerance clouds free thinking
So Mind sent to Heart a mischeciose concept
Love
For Mind knew heart would look at love rather one dimensional
For love can hurt
Love can destroy those we love
And dessicate those we wanted to remember
Heart, ny not as clever, but wise enough to know something was arise
Heart did something completely unexpected
Which is very uncommon, as mind would tell
He shifted and twisted love into something more abstract yet more direct
Happiness
Mind lost his need for supremacy
And for once
Only once
Took broader look
And decreed that happiness was a true emotion
Not of course realizing that he was being tricked by heart
For heart stole love
And hid it in happiness
So that those lucky individuals who feel happiness
May also feel love

I wrote this piece about a year ago and I made it to capture just the roaring feeling that filled me when I found out my mom was diagnosed with cancer. I really hope you enjoy!
