Life and beauty
It is said that Beauty
Is in the eyes of the beholder.
Why then do I feel this statement is wrong?
Women, and men
Everyday, are trying increasingly hard
To look beautiful.
To look beautiful, according
To the rules of Society.
According to the Standards of people
Whom they will most likely
Never meet.
They refuse to see themselves
Through their own eyes.
I will not be subjected to
This wrong.
If beauty is truly in the eyes
Of the Beholder,
Then what about my eyes?
It is my Life !
I have been oh so graciously given life.
So, I will live this lifetime
Not under the Opinions people
Who I mean nothing to,
But completely within my own preferences
And judgments.
After all
I'm living my life
Not Someone else's.
