watch the knife, a glistening gospel
steel slices to the bobbing heads
mumbles and murmurs spewing outward
the egos of the vain underfed
“social suicide”, I call it
great tricks and lies undone
though my scars spread and simmer
theirs of craft follow by two, one
satisfaction found in tandem
for the taps and chimes grow still
these screens--no, hearths of hollow
then shatter our society’s dire will...
...to swipe, press, fulfill?

This piece places great emphasis upon the toxic nature of social media and, thus, my past efforts to steer clear of it (hence "social suicide")...until recently. It's a cycle most are undeniably aware of, yet undoubtedly trapped within--not exculding myself.
